Crafting and Crocheting for the Fall Craft Fair Season

I'm getting ready for the pre-holiday craft show season in my area, all of which culminates a week before Christmas with a "last minute" craft fair that usually sells well.
So for the next three months, I'll be crocheting, collaging, beading, and otherwise getting my wares ready to sell. Then hauling them around to the shows, setting up my table, talking (& hopefully selling) to prospective customers and fellow vendors, etc. All of which is mostly fun, if exhausting at times.

In addition, I have to stock up at the Blue Portal, a little gift shop in Albuquerque's Old Town, where I also sell things :) It's interesting to note that some things sell well there, but not at the craft shows, and vice versa. So it pays to diversify! Last Monday I took in some new items, like these two necklace & earring sets:

Bead crochet necklace set, multicolor

Bead crochet necklace set Red Pink 090912
These are made by crocheting the beads into the wire. I'm still perfecting the technique, and I think I've about got it. But I have sold several necklaces of this nature previously at the gift shop, so I must be doing something right! NOTE: for those who are metal-sensitive, I also make necklaces & bracelets crocheted on hemp or leather cord. There's no metal to irritate sensitive skin. See them and more of my jewelry pieces at the jewelry section of my Zibbet store.

I also took in this lovely scarf:
Scarf Black sequin crochet bead fringe 091212-001
That's a brand-new variation I came up, adding the bead-fringe trim to a crocheted scarf. I've put the bead fringe on fabric scarves before, and I've made a ton of crocheted scarves, but never put them together like this. It was the sequins in the yarn that inspired me. Unfortunately that type of yarn is no longer available and the bead trim is in short supply, too. So who knows if I'll make more, or if this will truly be a one of a kind item.
That's my contribution so far to my local Albuquerque shoppers. I have much more available online at Jan4insight Handmade Gallery on Zibbet. And I'll be adding more, too, for a great selection of handmade gifts this holiday season!
