SOLD on Zazzle - Written with Rose ODAT Necklace

It was nice to come back from dinner on a Saturday night, open my email, and find that a nice person in MT bought a copy of this beautiful necklace from my Zazzle store!

Here's Something New: My designs on WALLPAPER at Spoonflower!

The print-on-demand publishing sites beloved by designers like myself are adding new products day and night! One of my ventures is my modest (but colorful) shop on Spoonflower, which has been strictly fabric up until now. Even though it's a small part of my design ventures, I'm always thrilled when a customer buys some of my fabric!

Spoonflower just upped the thrill potential by adding WALLPAPER to our products! I love that when you visit the page for each design, you'll get an idea of how it will look on an actual wall in relation to actual furniture. For example, here's my Southwest Megafiori design on wallpaper:

Oh, didn't I tell you I like BRIGHT colors and BOLD patterns :) Seriously, I think this bold Southwest Megafiori design would like fabulous on one wall of a family room or playroom - shades of '60s decor!

But as a customer, you can select your own pattern scale. That's why it's called CUSTOM wallpaper, and fabric too. For example, take this beautifully bright & bold Diamond Spectrum design:

Once you click that Add to Cart button, you'll get an option to Edit This Design. Then you can scale the pattern Smaller or in some cases Bigger if you want it bigger yet. The Diamond Spectrum pattern shown above can be scaled down to a foulard-like design that's every bit as beautiful:

I had fun setting my Spoonflower fabric designs to the new wallpaper configurations. Here's some more samples to whet your appetite ~

Stately and plaid-like Exotic Tiles:

Peaceful and meditative Rose-Gold Kwan Yin:

Okay, back to bold! Here's a view of my luscious green and blue Design Delirium, which can also be scaled down to a smaller, plaid-like design. Any way you scale it, the colors are fabulous:

According to Spoonflower's product description, this "Removable wallpaper is perfect for students and apartment dwellers.... Printed using high-quality, PVC-free materials and inks." And you can buy a generously-sized sample swatch of any design, so you can see how it looks in your own home. Please do stop by my WALLPAPER section and see all of my bright, bold, and custom-scalable designs!

Crafting and Crocheting for the Fall Craft Fair Season

I'm getting ready for the pre-holiday craft show season in my area, all of which culminates a week before Christmas with a "last minute" craft fair that usually sells well.
So for the next three months, I'll be crocheting, collaging, beading, and otherwise getting my wares ready to sell. Then hauling them around to the shows, setting up my table, talking (& hopefully selling) to prospective customers and fellow vendors, etc. All of which is mostly fun, if exhausting at times.

In addition, I have to stock up at the Blue Portal, a little gift shop in Albuquerque's Old Town, where I also sell things :) It's interesting to note that some things sell well there, but not at the craft shows, and vice versa. So it pays to diversify! Last Monday I took in some new items, like these two necklace & earring sets:

Bead crochet necklace set, multicolor

Bead crochet necklace set Red Pink 090912
These are made by crocheting the beads into the wire. I'm still perfecting the technique, and I think I've about got it. But I have sold several necklaces of this nature previously at the gift shop, so I must be doing something right! NOTE: for those who are metal-sensitive, I also make necklaces & bracelets crocheted on hemp or leather cord. There's no metal to irritate sensitive skin. See them and more of my jewelry pieces at the jewelry section of my Zibbet store.

I also took in this lovely scarf:
Scarf Black sequin crochet bead fringe 091212-001
That's a brand-new variation I came up, adding the bead-fringe trim to a crocheted scarf. I've put the bead fringe on fabric scarves before, and I've made a ton of crocheted scarves, but never put them together like this. It was the sequins in the yarn that inspired me. Unfortunately that type of yarn is no longer available and the bead trim is in short supply, too. So who knows if I'll make more, or if this will truly be a one of a kind item.
That's my contribution so far to my local Albuquerque shoppers. I have much more available online at Jan4insight Handmade Gallery on Zibbet. And I'll be adding more, too, for a great selection of handmade gifts this holiday season!

"Tears for Canada" tribute on September 11

I am touched and honored. Another member of the ColourLovers site used my template design to creat this beautiful pattern as a tribute to the citizens of Canada who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Click through to the ColourLovers page, then click on the pattern thumbnail to see it displayed in full color across  your screen. Click again to reduce the full-screen display.

In honor of those who passed on that day, and since - may all beings be well.
